2019 APP WORLD TOUR RACING SCHEDULE

March 21, 2019
by

Long Beach, NY to deliver a broader weekend of surfing and racing action as well as fun for all the family on Labor Day weekend

While it is disappointing not to be celebrating the Pacific Paddle Games at Doheny Beach this year, not only does the APP World Tour have a full season of high profile events ahead of it (kicking off with the London SUP Open on May 17th), it has poured more resources and focus on its Long Beach, NY beach festival taking place on Labor Day weekend (31st August – 2nd September) to deliver much more this year at what is a prime US venue.

Outside of the World Tour Surfing that will start on this holiday weekend in Long Beach, there will be Qualifier Racing for the World Tour event that will take place the following Thursday thru Saturday, Amateur and Entry level racing, as well as a large Charity downwinder to cap off a great weekend of action for all the family in Long Beach, NY. What this means for the APP World Tour season and World Title Calculations for 2019

The withdrawal of the Pacific Paddle Games means that what was a 6 event season, has been reduced to 5 events for 2019, with 4 Main stops plus Red Bull Heavy Water, as the Wildcard. This means that the athletes best 3 distance and best 3 sprint results will count towards the World Title in 2019, with Red Bull Heavy Water once again serving as a Wildcard event to replace one of other distance results where relevant. This means that athletes will be able to discard one result for both sprint and distance from the 2019 season.

The high profile line-up of Race Events with a prize-purse of over $200,000 for the racing season is as follows:

  1. London SUP Open, UK: 17th – 19th May
  2. New York SUP Open, USA: 5th – 7th September
  3. Osaka SUP Open, Japan: 20th – 22nd September
  4. Red Bull Heavy Water, USA: 15th October – 7th November
  5. Aloha Spirit Festival, Brazil: 22nd – 24th November
