PRESS RELEASE

The Big Blue Experience in the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast National Park have been delivering professional watersports courses since 2001. Last year they opened a Kite/Surf/Sup shop and booking office on the beach at Newgale and this year are proud to be a Pro Naish Demo Centre. If you have not been to Pembrokeshire then you should definitely consider a visit. The coastline is well known for catching some of the best surf in the UK but lesser know are the myriad of sheltered harbours and ancient wooded estuaries which are ideal for exploring by SUP. Big Blue has a heritage of providing SUP lessons and adventures for all comers from family holidaymakers to seasoned enthusiast looking for a local guide. Boat cover is used for longer, wilder trips and for large groups as well as for accessing the infamous beaches of St Davids head.

The Big Blue Shop is based on the beach at Newgale which is a 2 mile long sandy beach providing consistent waves all year round. The coastline directly off the beach is wild and rugged with waterfalls to stand under and tunnels, arches and caves to paddle through. If the coast is a bit wild then the sheltered waters of the Cleddau estuary bordered by ancient oak woodland provides a flat water paradise for exploring creeks and spotting wildlife. A favourite is a paddle to Cresswell Quay for a pint of fire water before paddling back as the sun sets.

Pembrokeshire is famous as the home of coasteering and the coastline provides an amazing array of tunnels, caves and cliff jumps. Big Blue uses safety boats to access the inaccessible and if conditions allow we often paddleboard to the coasteer to make the day more adventurous. Big Blue also provides surfing lessons which is a great activity for non-Suppers but also useful as an introduction to waves for those who have never been in the surf environment. Especially if it is too big or windy to use the Sups.

Many paddleboarders are kitesurfers as the two sports complement each other perfectly. Sup in light winds kitesurf in stronger winds. It makes total sense for making the most of your free time. Newgale is a great spot to learn to kitesurf and the beach is perfect for kite-landboarding which Big Blue uses to introduce kids to kites but also as a teaching aid for learning the dynamics of kitesurfing without much power or the 3 dimensions of the water.

There is a wide range of local accommodation from beachside campsites and glamping to affordable B&B’s, luxury hotels and self-catering cottages. The great thing about Pembrokeshire and Big Blue is that no matter what the weather you are guaranteed to have an incredible experience with the sheer choice of activities and the beauty and the diversity of the coastline.
