We had a couple of days to hang in Bali and acclimatise to the nasi goreng / Bintang diet and to wait till Shak got there. After a small wave session we checked the swell report and there it was: a big red blob sitting out in the Indian Ocean which started to make us a little bit excitedly nervous. As we stared at the screen a message popped up on my phone from Pete. “Seen the Charts? It’s gonna be 10ft double ups.” Gulp!
From that moment on, the trepidation and excitement were constant. All there was to do were a couple of flights from Bali to Jakarta and then Medan, all on the same airline, so it should’ve been smooth sailing. How wrong could one be?
