Fifteen minutes east of Squamish is the Lower Mamquam Class 2, which boasts an entrance viewpoint like that out of a fairy-tale book. A waterfall cascades before us and a playful drop in ignites the journey. Next, we hit up Chekamus, which is half an hour north up the Paradise Valley (as enticing as its name suggests). Starting out in a narrow valley shrouded in an old growth of fir, spruce and cedar trees, we begin the paddle in clear glacier melt waters. The many offerings of fun rapids around each corner surprise us, with new view points of the surrounding mountain peaks and changing landscape as we drop down to sea level and flow into the Squamish River where all the rivers connect to the ocean.
