The Green River is a wonderful little side quest and is only a short 15 minute hike from the campsite at the base of Nairn Falls where we begin the paddle. The water is green, clear and playful as we make our way down to the Lillooet confluence. Navigating rapids, rocks and bends requires concentration and skill. The Green then flows into Lillooet where it’s much like the Squamish: lolling gently through the beautiful farm valleys of Pemberton and weaving beneath the towering Mount Currie peak which has some of the most consistent vertical relief anywhere in North America. It soars into the clouds, holding our gazes for hours. Its spirit is sacred to the natives and when you paddle beside it you can feel a powerful radiating energy surging like the water beneath your board.
