RED PADDLE 10’6″ RIDE TEST REVIEW

Verdict:
The Red Paddle 10’ 6” Ride iSUP continues to please new riders and also the mass market. A very well constructed board with great quality fittings and finish, upgraded again for 2017 to keep it current, well recommended and liked.

Overview:
The Ride comes as a great package with the new improved double-barrelled Titan pump (with further attachments for kites, boats etc…) and better pressure gauge. One of the best wheeled backpacks out there with paddle stash inside bag. This year the 10’6 has Red’s new MSL (fused laminate) lightweight construction and three ply reinforced rails. There’s a new Go Pro fitting on nose and three iFINS on tail to give trouble free paddling.

Brand Claim:
Its popularity is down to its versatility. It’s designed to float and glide easily on flat water, and it has just the right amount of curve in the plan shape so it rides smoothly and predictably in surf, no matter what kind of rider you are. And it’s 120mm/4.7” thick, which increases stiffness while not affecting ride and performance. Cargo tie-downs complete an iconic package.

Performance:
This very popular board had offers plenty of stability for its size with the second widest tail in the test and came out mid fleet in our glide test; it’s not the quickest board around but it feels very light with the superbly finished MSL construction. The pad was soft on the feet but grippy with a lightly textured finish, not as harsh as some of the other boards on test.  On deck it has cargo bungees with neatly moulded attachment points which should out last the board. It was the only board to have a built in RAM camera/GPS RAM mounting system on the nose, ideal for filming your adventures or wild exploring; our guest testers liked this feature. Red Paddle have been selling this board for years to centres around the globe, they hold their value very nicely if you ever decide to change it. There is really not much to go wrong with it; it’s a very well tried and tested product which keeps on getting slightly better every year. Easy to roll up too compared with some of the other boards.
