RRD 10’4 AIRSUP V3 TEST REVIEW

Verdict:
Quite simply a iSUP that feels like a hard board, the new V3 is very solid in feel. Stable and secure to paddle but surprisingly nimble and quick with the single fin and wide tail. This board felt the biggest on test (it was joint widest) but felt great as a stable all rounder; an attractive chunky board liked by our test team.

Overview:
The RRD came in a smart wheeled back pack and was supplied with a switch pump as standard. On deck the V3 had the usual cargo bungees, it also has a soft feeling ribbed deck pad. Underneath the board has a single US box centre fin with no side fins which works well. The rails are multi-layered and felt really solid. Around the whole board was a Dyneema belt and reinforcement stringer.

Brand Claim:
The most wanted SUP range of our collection. This super friendly and all round orientated type of board glides smoothly on flat water and rides effortlessly in small surf, allowing you to enter a new dimension of excitement. Rocker and scoopline together with a perfect fin placement allow for a great experience of pleasure in an incredible variety of conditions.
Built with a new “Sandwich Dyneema Belt “ that wraps the whole contour of the board on the deck and bottom as a stringer, the board becomes about 30% stiffer than any
conventional inflatable board.

Performance:
The first thing you notice upon jumping on the RRD it that almost feels like a hard board, and sure enough it came out the stiffest on test (it’s also the joint thickest). It was pretty spritely too coming in the top few in our glide test which surprised us, maybe this is thanks to the low drag single fin? The board has a gradual, smooth rocker line and was really well finished with its flashy Italian stylings. The beefy V3 is a new improved board for this year, just like most of the more forward thinking SUP brands RRD have evolved it and improved it year on year. If you’re after a solid feeling, good looking, stable board that will make you stand out from the crowd this rock solid all rounder will be difficult to beat. Well liked by our testers, it should be fun in some small waves too with its super wide tail you’ll have no problem catching surf on it.
