The APP World Tour and its City Paddle Festivals will bring a ‘Water World’ to Virgin Sport’s Hackney Festival of Fitness.

Ericeira, Portugal: 25th March 2019: The APP World Tour is proud to announce an exciting new partnership for its London SUP Open with Hackney Festival of Fitness, Virgin Sport’s signature event combining running and fitness experiences with community celebration.

Following a successful first year for the London SUP Open, that brought an exciting SUP event to one of the World’s most iconic Cities, featuring everything from World Championship Tour competition to fun racing for all, introductory clinics and SUP Yoga, the APP World Tour is partnering with Hackney Festival of Fitness to provide accessibility and opportunity for people from all walks of life to paddle and to further develop the sport’s presence in the UK’s Capital City.

Hackney Festival of Fitness is the UK’s largest outdoor fitness festival and home to the Hackney Half, a race that cruises through London’s most creative borough, flush with vibrant street art and local charm. There will be a line up of high and low intensity fitness sessions taking place throughout the weekend, including Virgin Active, Ministry of Sound Fitness, DJ Melody Kane, Fight Klub, Sweat and Sound, and many more.

In 2019, Virgin Sport and the APP World Tour will come together to expand the offering of fitness and general sports activities on offer at Hackney Festival of Fitness, to include SUP Clinics (both introductory and advanced), SUP Yoga, and youth clinics taking place in APP’s pop-up 20 metre pool at the festival village, as well as exploratory paddles down the beautiful waterways that encircle Hackney Marshes.

From a competitive standpoint, there will be both fun and serious racing for all, from newcomers to the sport right up to Professional level competition on the APP World Tour. City Paddle Festival activities in the Pool & on the Canal will complement ‘on land’ activities of the Hackney Festival of Fitness.

The goal of the APP World Tour and its City Paddle Festivals concept has been to not only bring together the established water sports community and provide a dynamic professional sporting showcase, but present the incredibly accessible sport of Stand Up Paddling to major Cities across the globe, with a unique opportunity to get wet and get engaged for themselves.

For 2019, this includes everything from introductory clinics in the APP Pool, kids clinics and exploratory ‘clean up’ paddles down the canal with Plastic Patrol and Lizzie Carr, to entry level and Amateur racing, SUP Yoga and of course the headline, the World’s very best battling it out at Stop #1 of the 2019 APP World Tour.

As a result, the opportunity to come together in Hackney for the UK’s largest outdoor festival of fitness, delivering both land and water action was something that both the APP World Tour and Virgin Sport considered too good an opportunity to be missed. Welcome to the 2019 edition of Hackney Festival of Fitness, featuring the APP World Tour and its City Paddle Festivals!
