BIC 11’ WING ACETEC TEST REVIEW

Verdict:
This compact tourer was sleek and quiet to paddle with its vee nose and flat rocker line. Stable and surprisingly quick for its compact length and a perfect tough hard board for light to medium weight paddlers wanting more performance over a round nose all rounder. Great value and thoroughly enjoyed by our testers.

Overview
Bic’s plastic skinned Acetec construction is tough and light and perfect for families. The board has nose and tail leash plugs, a slightly recessed deck standing area with a soft textured two part deck pad and four cargo tie down points on deck. The bottom shape runs from a soft vee nose through to a flat centre and subtle soft vee in tail with soft rails throughout. This year Bic’s gloss red boards come out at the same price as the white ones, so no upgrade cost this year!

Brand Claim
The Wing series features a super-stable, feature-rich platform optimized for a smooth, clean and effortless paddling experience. They are designed as all-purpose boards for fitness paddling, recreational racing and simply cruising around enjoying walking on water.

Performance
The Wing was the cheapest hard board on test yet it came up very well against the rest of the fleet. In our glide test it was a touch slower than the 12’6 boards but was very similar to the longest iSUP on test. This compact tough tourer cuts through chop and swell with its efficient nose shape and relatively low nose rocker. The 11’ Wing had the joint widest tail on test giving it a stable feel for its 29” width, it also gave you plenty of confidence stepping back on the board when catching swell or pivot turning. On paper the smallest board of the bunch had a lot to prove but even our heaviest 100kg+ tester really enjoyed this nippy tough board which manages to pack 220 litres into its van friendly template. Overall the Wing is a smooth compact touring board that’s ideal for lighter riders (Bic also do a 12’6 version for bigger guys), wanting a tough light good value board. Great for lakes and rivers or flat coastal conditions, far better than our varied test team expected from this affordable board, it comes highly recommended.
