JP OUTBACK 12’
TEST REVIEW

Verdict
The appropriately named Outback is a massively stable, chunky exploring / fishing board with some well thought out practical features to make your life aquatic as comfortable as can be, a silently gliding board, once it is up and going it has surprising pace. Arguably the best fishing board on the market, also perfect for loading up with your large clumsy dog too, if you have one.

Overview
The Outback is loaded with features: up front on deck you have a Go Pro mount and full deck EVA deck pad running back to your first set of cargo bungees. Then JP’s unique ‘light capsule’ – a clear bottomed well for you torch! (for night fishing of course) and car keys, drink etc…, sealed off with a foam lid. Further back on deck is the ridged wooden-looking deck pad and more cargo bungees as well as fixtures for attaching your cool box and also JP’s ‘fishing rack’, sold separately. Underneath a sharp vee nose runs through double concave to single to its very wide tail.

Brand Claim
The most versatile board out there! Super stable parallel outline and the sharp displacement bow ensure an effortless and silent glide. Loaded with features too, take your kid or your dog along for the ride on the comfortable, fully padded nose of the board.

Performance
The biggest board on test came with the smallest handle, which ideally should have been deeper. But once on the water you have a very stable, quiet paddling, very directional board. It was the heaviest on test but had plenty of glide with its long parallel boxy rails. In our glide test the JP came out mid fleet, it was also happy to keep its momentum across chop and bumps. All of our testers took a shine to this board, it certainly looks the part, it paddles with ease and if you’re after a load carrying explorer / fisher we can’t think of a better board. The centre capsule and fittings placement were well thought out and are very useful features on this type of board. A great big board for loading all BBQ, dog, kids etc… on and paddling off on an adventure, it also has a windsurf insert too! Our testers loved its secure platform and long haul potential, and it’s good value too.
